The homeowners wanted a new home to start a new chapter in their lives. While the family had fond memories of growing up in the house and the waterfront property’s beautiful views of the Boston skyline, the homeowner wanted a space that fit the family’s current life stage (grandchildren on the way!) and reflected a more cheerful, vibrant aesthetic.
Stylistically, the client wanted to draw upon the seaside setting for inspiration and to use bright, bold color throughout the home. She loved vibrant pinks and blues, and these hues laid the foundation for a dynamic color palette that ranges from corals and yellows to teals and magentas. For a starting-off point, the homeowner liked the idea of “a country house with city style,” so I created spaces that had traditional roots, updated with fun colors and statement-making details.
The homeowner wanted a space that was inviting and comfortable for her extended family’s water-filled summer activities, yet still elegant and stylish for her friends and guests. With bold color and careful details as the driving forces, I designed custom window treatments, furniture and furnishings for all the rooms, established several gathering areas fit for casual and more formal occasions, created dining and lounging areas, harmoniously brought in color, texture and pattern to each room, and helped create a functional outdoor space including a kitchen and pergola. These photos feature the lovely deck furniture, which is custom Weatherend Furniture with custom Stark Fabrics cushions.
