Brookes + Hill Wins a Gold CotY Award

Brookes + Hill Custom Builders won a gold Contractor of the Year (CotY) award at the Evening of Excellence for a recently completed project in Weston. Judges for the 2010 Coty Awards held by Eastern Mass National Association of the Remodeling Industry's . Judges for the 2010 Coty awards included Bruce Irving of This Old House Magazine, George Magyar, CMKBD, of Norfolk Kitchen & Bath and Richard Bryant of Cape Associates, Inc. BUILDERS. Brookes + Hill is proud to have their work recognized amongst such great competition.

LEED Ceritified Project

Brookes + Hill is proud to have achieved LEED Certification for a recent gut rehab in Lincoln, MA.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is a green building certification developed by the US Green Building Council that recognizes measures taken to design and build homes that provide energy savings, reduce CO2 emissions and improve both indoor environmental quality and water efficiency. Each process or material that complies with these green practices is given a point value and then judged by a third party for compliance.

The Lincoln residence, deemed Project 1651, included energy saving methods such as solar and radiant heat, low-E triple glazed windows, and icynene insulation. A rainwater tank was installed for outdoor irrigation. LEED rated products such as FSC (Forest Steward Certified) wood for framing and moldings, countertops that contain recycled materials, low-flush toilets and a wood veneer floor (rather than a solid wood) were chosen with care. Construction practices had to follow strict guidelines such as the separation of waste materials such as metals, concrete and wood for further recycling.

Project 1651 was accredited with LEED Certification on September 24, 2009.
